DESIGN LEAD
The country of Qatar continues to experience substantial construction growth with infrastructure budgets rising to over $120B for infrastructure and road projects. To support this growth, the public works authority, has created a numer of senior management expatriate postings for urgent commencement. With long term prospects providing stability and career development, our employer is looking to recruit and experienced Design Lead to their team to add value in an advisory capacity. Reporting to PMC Oversight Lead/Project Director and working as part of the Building Affairs team, you will be responsible for the design and engineering functions for elivery of QR 10B portfolio of education, medical marine and general building projects for Government clients as the client's representative with the Programme Management Consultant (PMC). The Job responsibilities will be like:
- Management of Design, providing overall leadership to the design function to achieve a high standard of corporate governance including coordination with departments, supply chain partners including programme management consultant (PMC), design & construction.
- Ensure complaince with Health, Safety, Environment and security requirements in all places of the design.
- Measurement of technical performance of the PMC, consultants and contractors and incorporation into a feedback process to ensure continuous improvement to meet PWA needs.
- Provide technical advice to resolve non-complaince and design deficiences.
- Communicate and enforce sustainability standards for each project during the deisgn stage.
- Assist in the procurement process - tendering, evaluation and subsequent award of the desigh consultant agreements.
- Produce the overall monthly report on design activities.
Requirements:
- Degree Qualification in Civil Engineering, architecture or project management. Degrees or comparable.
- Profecient in English, written and spoken and Arabic highly regarded.
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in managing engineering and design for large projects and building programmes with experience in the procurement of multiple project designs.
- Management and Administration of consultant design contracts related to the delivery of building projects.
- Experience in the design process from inception through to completion of construction and project close out.
